the grass is greener

light my fire... but keep your paraffin

earth hour is only two weeks away and i've been examining our candle status... as it stands, our status is *dire* we may well not survive the hour. knowing that 'candles aint candles'   i'm lovin' on these gorgeous paraffin free, non toxic, clean burning eco candles...

1. Queen B. candles are hand made in Australia using 100% pure Australian beeswax & pure cotton braided wicks so they burn smokeless which means no soot! and they produce a natural honey aroma without any added fragrances.  *favorite* 

 

2. soy beam candles are *too cute* and the product is green from the inside out.  Made from 100% GMO-free American grown soy wax, the candles are scented with organic essential oils & hand poured into tumblers made from recycled water and wine bottles.  Even the candle seals are green! made from seeded paper that can be planted after use.  If that isn't enough the packaging is 100% recycled, printed with soy ink and the candles burn for over 50 hours... *genius*

Our home sweet home (which is meant to be undergoing a major eco usification) has been sorely neglected of late. Too many festivities, DIY projects, overnight visitors and general Christmas comings and goings have left it looking a little... undernourished, so i have lovingly created a visual feast of eco homewares! a smorgasbord of environmentally friendly home furnishings! nom nom nom...

my cosy DIY sunday

Oh *bliss* a summer storm sunday! cosy craft corners, soft wool, jasmine tea, fluffy cats, neil diamond records and...

latch hook rugs! i've been working on this rug (which looks tiny here but really is quite huge) for eons. many a day i've sat staring at it and wondered if maybe i bit off more than i can chew with this DIY project... but then i fluff it up, spread it out, remember how gorgeous it is and soldier on *just keep looping, just keep looping*

lately i've been putting it aside because its been waaay too sticky to handle wool and hessian, and on the days i've forced myself to work on it for progress sake ive put it on the floor, draped myself over the bed and worked on it from above *cheat* but today! *sigh* today was a hook rug day if ever there was one. i will forever love summer storms and hook rug sundays...
